Online Counselling FAQs

Common inquiries about starting therapy, sessions, and logistics.

How do I start online counselling?

Beginning your process is easy. Simply schedule a preliminary consultation via the "Book A Session" link to arrange a 15-minute introductory call. If we determine that my approach aligns with your needs, we will move forward by scheduling our first full therapeutic meeting.

What is the session duration?

Standard individual therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes and are generally held at the same time weekly.

What is your Availability?

Current practice hours are as follows:

Monday — 08:00 - 20:00
Tuesday — 14:00 - 17:00
Wednesday — 08:00 - 20:00
Thursday — 08:00 - 20:00

What are the payment logistics?

Individual sessions are £55 and payment should be made via bank transfer with your surname as reference. Payment is due 48 hours before each session.

Cancellation Policy

Life happens and sometimes means we may need to miss a session. If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give at least 48 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, will normally be charged in full.

Data Protection

Data Protection & Your Records

I may keep brief notes to support our work together and to help me provide safe and consistent therapy. Your information will be treated with care and stored securely in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Your records will remain confidential and will only be accessed or shared where there is a legitimate reason to do so, such as for clinical supervision where appropriate, or where I have a legal or professional responsibility to provide information.

You have rights in relation to the personal information I hold about you. This includes the right to ask to see your records and, where appropriate, to request that inaccurate information is corrected or that your information is deleted. These rights are subject to certain legal exceptions.

I will normally retain your therapy records for seven years after our work together ends, in line with current UKCP guidance on general best practice. Your records will then be securely destroyed, unless there is a specific legal, professional or other legitimate reason for retaining them for longer.

If you have any questions about your records, how your information is stored, or your rights regarding your personal data, please feel free to ask. I am happy to talk this through with you.

Confidentiality

The content of our sessions is confidential. However, I might share information with my supervisor (somebody I consult regularly for ethical and quality control reasons). If I need to talk about our sessions, I will not share your name or any distinguishing data.

I am also required by law and my code of practice to disclose confidential data if I suspect a danger of harm to yourself or others.

What you share with me is private and will be treated with care, respect and confidentiality. This is an important part of creating a safe and trusting space for our work together.

There are a small number of circumstances where I may need to share information, for example, if I am seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s, or if I have a legal or professional responsibility to do so. Wherever possible, I would talk this through with you first.

Some concerns, such as those relating to terrorism, the safety of a child or vulnerable adult, or drug trafficking, may need to be shared with the appropriate authorities.

If you are considering sharing information about previously unreported criminal activity, I would encourage you to be aware that confidentiality may not always apply in these circumstances.

What are your qualifications?

I am an NCPS accredited registrant  MNCPS (Acc) and have completed a Level 6 Counselling qualification at The Link Centre.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in The Application of Therapeutic Arts from the Institute of Art and Therapy in Education.

I am currently studying for my Level 7 (Master equivalent) Advanced Counselling Diploma at the Link Centre, so am also registered as a Trainee Psychotherapist with UKCP.

How long will we work together and how do we end?

Each persons therapeutic journey is different. We will spend the first few weeks mapping out what your therapeutic goals are and what successful therapy will look like for you and then contract together how many sessions we may require. This can be re-contracted at any time.
